Where I Want to be Right Now

CORNELIUS from borntofilm on Vimeo.

As cool as exams and papers are, raving in Europe would be a lot sweeter. Check out the Bleedy Beetroots' promo for their new EP, Cornelius. Pretty much a straight ripoff from Justice's promo for "A Cross the Universe". If you don't know these guys yet, here a few songs to get you acquainted. Absolute bangers.

B r o o k l y n come again

New collaboration from Brooklyn Legend Jay -Z and Philly born Santogold. Titled 'Brooklyn Go Hard,' the song has an addicting beat that should keep it on repeat for a while. Oh yeah, Kanye dropped the beat and produced this one. He's all over the place.

Skeet Skeet

When I'm bored with the blog world, I tend to go back to my roots. If there is one person that inspired my newly laid musical foundation it is my man DJ Skeet Skeet.

Most people might know him as Shwayze's DJ, but before Shwayze got big Skeet was still tearing up the LA club scene. He is about as good as anyone I've ever heard at blending the best of all the music worlds, whether electro, indie, oldies, pop, whatever. The man is constantly on top of the game, bringing the freshest and hottest stuff from around the world.

Skeets edits and remixes are solid, but his mixtapes are absolutely incredible. Check out last December's mixtape. You should plan on listening to it for the next month.

10 Minutes of Gold

Louis La Roche is the man. The kid is something like 17 years old and puts together gems like the following. Next time you have ten minutes to waste, waste it on this minimix.

Louis La Roche - One Sampler, Glitch, and a 909 (10 Minute Minimix)

Flashing Lights Like You've Never Heard It

Pretty tight remix of a Kanye classic. Canadians do crazy things like this, but it actually blends pretty well with the beat. Probably not what you're expecting, so give it a shot.

Colin Munroe - I Want Those Flashing Lights

Remix Sunday #3: Amsterdam

Super chill song. Woke up to this song all summer...definitely a good way to start your day. The remix adds a nice rap line at the beginning and end of the song.

Peter Bjorn and John ft. Spec Boogie - Amsterdam (Loosie Remix)

Life is BUSY...

It's getting real cold, work is piling up, I'm seeing entirely too many Christmas commercials on TV...yup, it's that time of the year again. And no one does this time of the year more hardcore than Davidson. However, my new perspective on life as a senior allows me to hold onto a little bit of that relaxed, no-worries feeling that I have enjoyed for the first 3 months of this semester.

As the stack of exams and papers grows, it is easy to get caught up in all the pressure and craziness of getting TINGS done before break. However, we have a solution for you: FUN MUSIC!!! Put on some headphones, lock yourself in your room, whatever...turn it up and go wild. All the stress disappears.

Daft Punk - Digital Pussy (Kid Color Remix)

Robyn - Cobrastyle
September - Cry For You
Chromeo - Bonafied Lovin'

Remix Sunday #2: Santogold

Ok, so it's actually Monday but sometimes Sundays are just not conducive to getting anything done. Sitting on a couch watching football is just a whole lot easier.

Anyways, here are two great Santogold remixes by two of the top DJs in the world: Tepr and Diplo. These songs have been out for awhile but are an absolute necessity in your library. Enjoy.

Santogold - Say Aha (Tepr Remix)
Santogold ft. Amanda Blank - I'm a Lady (Diplo Mix)

Dedication 3

Lil Wayne & DJ Drama produce another gem. The tape is sick. You can get it here.

It sounds similar to Kanye's new stuff, with a heavy emphasis upon vocal distortions. All of the same biting lyrics are here.

"I'm not better, I'm just different...See, that's the difference between you and I. You get money, and you get crazy. I get crazy, and I get money. And the biggest difference between you and I is - you love me."

A bit of a side note - Lil Wayne has become a household name. CMA (Country Music Association) requested that Lil Wayne perform at their annual awards ceremony. He did so, without saying a word. He played guitar for Kid Rock who sang the entirety of the song. Versatile? Yes. Absurd? Yes.

If you don't want the whole mixtape here are a couple of goodies. All three are mediafire (left click link).

New Kanye Tracks

New single off of 808s with Lil' Wayne. I think it's Kanye's best overall piece off the new album. Give it a spin.

Kanye West ft. Lil' Wayne - Tell Everybody That You Know

Also check out the new tracks with Kid Cudi.

Kanye West ft. Kid Cudi - Paranoid

A Cause de Kanye

I must admit, I am not a fan of Kanye's first single off 808 & Heartbreak, titled Love Lockdown. It lacks a solid bridge, and the catch is pretty weak. Maybe I just don't like R&B that much.
Regardless, this remix definitely caught my eye. Yelle, the french electronic band assisting in the creation of the 'Tecktonic' dance phenomenon, meets Kanye.

Kid Cudi

Just finished watching the latest Entourage episode. Summary: Ari Gold is the boss of the universe and no one likes Seth Green. Overall awesome episode and another great set of tracks. Entourage's directors are consistently some of the best in the business for finding songs from hot up-and-coming artists to use in their new episodes.

This week's episode sampled Kid Cudi who is on the verge of blowing up in the mainstream hip-hop world. His work has caught the attention of many big name artists, including a one Kanye West. As a result Cudi is featured on Kanye's newest single off of 808s and Heartbreaks, "Anyway".

Here are Cudi's staple tracks to give you an idea of the Kid's talent. Also, check Crookers' remix on Day 'N Nite.

Kid Cudi - Day 'N Nite

Remix Sunday: JT-$!!!!

This is the official start of Remix Sunday. We'll be dropping a little something to get your week started the right way each Sunday.

I hesitate to post this song for two reasons: one, I just posted this artist and two, I hated the original version. However, the addition of Justin Timberlake makes the song so incredibly sexy. Therefore, the official remix to "Can't Believe It" gets the nod for our first Remix Sunday. Check it out.

Riff raff, alley, when I boom slang, drip draft.

Wu Tang Clan Meets Indie Culture

An unprecedented collaboration between Wu Tang (RZA, GZA, Method, etc.) and a variety of hip-hops new vanguards. MF Doom, Aesop Rock, Del tha Funky Homossapien, J-Live, & Planet Asia are just a few.

It is worth looking into for anyone who likes Wu Tang, or hip hop in general.

Also, don't forget those oldies but goodies.

Cash rules everything around me, C.R.E.A.M, get the money.

Pick a Side

One great song, two incredible remixes. Every vote counts. So be an American and pick a side.

Yes, you can.

Treasure Fingers - Cross the Dancefloor (Chromeo Remix)
Treasure Fingers - Cross the Dancefloor (LifeLike Remix)

New Kanye West

What can be said about Kanye? He is the closest thing the hip-hop industry has seen to a true revolutionary. Crossing the electro world with hip-hop in last year's mainstay "Stronger" was definitely a bold move and drew criticism from a lot of old-school Kanye fans. However, the song was a hit anywhere from the radio to clubs around the world.

This year, Kanye is taking a whole new spin in showcasing his talents. 808s and Heartbreaks is void of almost any rap and catchy beats, as the new album is almost all solo acts of Kanye singing and messing with the vocoder. My feelings are mixed, so feel free to draw your own conclusions. Here are the top two singles off the album. The "Love Lockdown" remix is a significant improvement off the original.

Kanye West - Heartless
Kanye West - Love Lockdown (Chew Fu Small Room Fix)

Bonus: two awesome Kanye mashups:

Kanye West ft. Common - Get 'Em High (A-Trak Mashup)
DJ Earworm - Reckoner Lockdown (Kanye vs. Radiohead)

Hood Internet Mixtape Volume Three

The Hood Internet recently released their third mashup mixtape. The tracklist has some sweet songs on it, but most of the songs just don't blend that well together. However, two of them are absolute gold, especially the "Lollipop" remix with the Bloody Beetroots which gives new life to a way overplayed song.

Lil Wayne vs. The Bloody Beetroots - We Are From Venice
Estelle ft. Kanye West vs. The Ting Tings - Shut Up, American Boy

Dirty Dancing

A Cause Des Garcons. Made in France.

The Far East

I have walked on the Great Wall of China, partied in clubs for the price of a Taco Bell quesadilla, and bought $10,000 watches for $10 (they all still work too!). Shinichi Osawa, however, might be the best thing the Far East has to offer. He is becoming the premier DJ on the other side of the world, but you get to hear him right here.

Shinichi Osawa - Dreamhunt (Shinichi Osawa Remix)
Shinichi Osawa ft. Au Revoire Simone - Star Guitar

The Hook Artist

T-Pain is responsible for almost every catchy hook on every mainstream hip-hop/r&b song of the last two years. From Kanye to Chris Brown to Luda, his victim list is endless. However, I love it and so does everyone else apparently.

Here is some of the new stuff coming off his Pr33 Ringz and Thr33 Ringz albums. No doubt you will be hearing these all winter. Enjoy.

T-Pain ft. DJ Khaled - Superman
T-Pain ft. Kanye West - Therapy
T-Pain ft. Chris Brown - Freeze
T-Pain ft. Ludacris - Chopped and Screwed

Whatever You Like

Absolutely love T.I.'s new album. Paper Trail gives The Carter III good competition for best hip-hop album this year. Everyone has heard "Whatever You Like" and "Live Your Life" by now, but here are a few of the other big singles off the album that haven't come out yet.

Also check the DiscoTech remix of "Whatever You Like". Absolute money.

T.I. feat Ludacris and B.O.B. - On Top of the World
T.I. feat. Justin Timberlake - Dead and Gone
T.I. - Whatever You Like (DiscoTech Remix)

Bonus track with Akon, not on the album:

T.I. ft Akon - Hero

The Sweet Sounds of Sweden

They say great minds think alike, and Logan and I must have that going on because I was in the middle of posting the same Lykke Li song as he did.

Anyways, here is a nice remix by AutoErotique, formerly known in the blog world as VNDLSM. Gives a little more beat to an already incredible song.

Lykke Li - Little Bit (AutoErotique Bootleg)

Another remix to a previously posted song. For those of you not yet acquainted with Tepr, he absolutely kills all his remixes and can do just about anything. Check his fix on Santogold.

P.S. Santogold is not Swedish

Santogold - Lights Out (Tepr Club mix)

Little Bit

Beautiful girl, Beautiful voice, amazing song. Classic of 2008.

Flight to Paris

Friendly Fires' song "Paris" is given a complete face lift from the likes of au revoir simone and remix masters aeroplane.

This song begs to be played at 4 in the morning on a Saturday night.

See you in Paris.

You can download the song here. PARIS

From sittin' in a cell, to sittin' on a jet.

Remix team Me Gusta from San Jose, Ca drops a sickie. The quality isn't the best, but the piano plays nicely off the rhythm from the song.

You can see Me Gusta's myspace here.

These guys

Lights Out

Nothing new here, but the blog is so we won't leave rocks unturned. Santi White, aka Santogold, is a Wesleyan graduate who  now works from Brooklyn. Collaborating with other artists such as Coldplay, M.I.A., and Bjork, she shows a lot of promise as an emerging artist 2008.

Here is one of her songs, Lights Out. It's dope.

Time is running out

First post.

This one is from The Section Quartet, called Time is Running Out. You may have heard it somewhere else (Muse)

Here it is.
